I hope the Toda people survive. Like many minorities, they appear to be under threat.

Especially the Todas, an ethnic minority, were the object of her [wally´s] journey. The Todas are people who live in the Blue Mountains and still count about 3000. The members of the Todas who live in different“ Mands „are closely connected to an extraordinarily strong community spirit. Mr. Alvaz, himself Toda, is a member of the NAWA organization. He tries to support [young] todas to keep up their tradition. [the todas are traditionally keeping buffalos – buffalos are important in the toda religion and seen as holy animals]. i also have to say, in their animist religion they worship all nature. [tipp: if you want to travel to the nilgiris, take the nilgiri mountain railway……it is an amazing adventure]
